Angkor Thom was was the last capital city of the Khmer Empire (Cambodia).
It was established in the late twelfth century by king Jayavarman VII.
At the centre of the city is Jayavarman's state temple, the Bayon.
The Bayon is an amazing construction, and from it large faces, (as seen in these photos), made from adjoining carved stone blocks look out.
