Cambodia, Traditional Drying of Shrimp in the sun, Kampong Phluk (near Siem Reap)
March 6th 2010 11:31
Kampong Phluk, consists of three villages of stilted houses built within the flood plains of the Tonle Sap Lake. During the dry season the lake is low and the buildings are surrounded by dry ground. When the wet season comes, however, the water levels rise and the houses in the village become surrounded by water.
The shrimp are dried on woven mats, spread out on the ground. This photo is taken during the dry season.
An interesting article about the Tonle Sap and Kampong Phluk can be foundhere.
