The magnificent and very beautiful Ta Prohm Temple, Cambodia.
Lying in ruins, and invaded by trees, Ta Prohm is a wonderful example of how the jungle slowly reclaims it's lost territory.

Ta Prohm Temple, Angkor, Cambodia.

This temple was built in the late 12th and early 13th centuries by Khmer King Jayavarman VII as a Buddhist monastery and university.
After the fall of the Khmer empire in the 15th century, the temple lay abandoned for centuries. It has been left largely untouched, with work being done to stabilise the ruins, rather than restore them.

Of the trees growing out of the ruins, two species predominate:
the Silk-cotton tree (the larger) and the strangler fig (the smaller).

Angkor Wat (3) The Amazing Bas-Reliefs

The galleries of Angkor Wat bear a series of bas-reliefs (stone carvings) on their walls. These depict intricate large-scale scenes, mainly from the Hindu epics of the Tamayana and the Mahabharata.

The western gallery show the Battle of Lanka and the Battle of Kurukshetra
